Safety
Good keepers watch for stress signs. Good daters do too.
Meet in public first
- Make your first few dates in busy public places — a café, a reptile expo, a park in daylight.
- Tell a friend where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Arrange your own transport. Don't go to someone's home (or invite them to see your collection) until you know them well.
Never send money
- Never send money, gift cards, crypto, or animals to someone you haven't met — no matter the story.
- Be wary of anyone who quickly moves the chat off Shed & Single, asks for money, or offers to sell you animals they 'can ship'.
- Report anyone who asks. We act on these fast.
How reporting works
- Every profile and every conversation has Report and Block buttons.
- Reports go privately to our review team. The person you report is not told who reported them.
- A person on our team reviews every report within 24 hours and can warn, suspend, or ban the account. Banned members can't rejoin with the same email.
- Blocking is instant: you won't see each other in browse or messages.
What photo verification means — and doesn't
- A “Photo verified” badge means the member sent us a photo of themselves holding a handwritten sign with a code word and their display name, and a person on our team checked that it matches their profile photos.
- It means their photos are of a real person who completed the photo check.
- It is NOT a criminal background check, and it is NOT an ID or identity-document check. We don't run either. Always use your own judgment.
Privacy by design
- Location is city-level only. We never show exact addresses or GPS.
- Phone numbers, emails and social handles are blocked from profiles. Share contact details only when you're ready.
- No ads and no data sold to advertisers.
If you are ever in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
